The Chief Minister is confident
Pokhara. Students of the Oli group celebrated Dipawali in Pokhara after the Supreme Court revived the CPN-UML and the Maoist Center on Sunday. They are happy that the UML has been revived and got the Sun(Surya Chinha).
With the dissolution of the parliament on 5 December, the Oli and Prachanda-Madhav factions split the CPN (Maoist) and there was an interest in who would get the (Surya Chinha) sun and the party's authority. But after the Supreme Court revived the UML in the name dispute of the CPN (Maoist), many leaders and cadres in Gandaki seemed happy that the Oli group was strong. "Instead of squabble, many cadres were excited that the previous UML was right," said Krishna Thapa, an MP from the Oli group.
Gandaki ministers and MPs also seemed happy. Finance Minister Kiran Gurung has claimed that the energy of the cadres has increased and the government will remain the same.
There are 27 UML MPs in the 60-member Gandaki state assembly. Of them, 26 belong to the Oli group. The Rastriya Janamorcha has supported the government. Janamorcha state assembly member Krishna Thapa said that it will remain the same even now. MP Rajiv Gurung (Deepak Manange), who won the free election from Manang, has said that he will support the government. In this way, he has 31 members to win the vote of confidence in Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung.
The Congress has 15 MPs, the UCPN (Maoist) has 12 MPs and the Janata Samajwadi Party has two MPs.
The Maoists have two ministers in the state government. Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hari Bahadur Chuman was not happy with Monday's decision to return the leaders of the Prachanda-Madhav faction to the former party as per the Supreme Court's decision.
He said that the leadership had failed to decide to return to the party. ‘Micro-management was done by someone else until the CPN (Maoist) dispute and the Supreme Court decision were separated. The leaders ignored it and were enjoying on something else irrelevant. '
He had earlier said, "The Madhav-Prachanda group's standing committee meeting on Monday should have made a political decision, but the leadership failed." We had to be in the same category as we are. 'Who played in the party? "Leaders should tell us why we are in this situation," he said.
Like Chuman, most Maoist leaders and cadres are not happy. According to him, on the one hand, there is concern over how the party will move forward and on the other hand, there is a situation where it is not possible to take a no-confidence motion in the state government.
UCPN-M MP Ramji Baral said that he was confused about how to present himself in the state government. Stating that the decision of the Supreme Court was unexpected, he said, "The issue of re-establishing the parliament has also been pushed by the current decision."
State Assembly member Deepak Koirala says that the political course has moved forward in a slightly different way even though the party has returned to the status quo of yesterday. "The court's decision has added to the confusion," Koirala said, "but politically the chief minister will not get our supported."
The government is confident: Chief Minister Gurung
Chief Minister Gurung now says that there is no alternative but to accept the Supreme Court's order and join the party and government formation. He said he was confident the government would not have to take a vote of confidence. "The Gandaki state government is confident that the difficult situation will not come," he said.
Gurung became the chief minister after getting votes from the former UML, Maoists and Rastriya Janamorcha. If the Maoists and Janamorcha withdraw their support, Gurung will have to take a vote of confidence.
Chairman of the Janamorcha, Chitra Bahadur KC, has already expressed the view that the current government should also belong to the UML and the UCPN (Maoist).
"The Rastriya Janamorcha has been supporting the party from the very beginning and has been showing commitment," said Chief Minister Gurung. The Gandaki state government is confident that the difficult situation will not come. '
"Even though the situation is party split, the Gandaki state government did not have a problem yesterday, nor will it have one now," he said.
