Pre-monsoon begins, winter ends from today

The pre-monsoon has started from today with the end of winter this year. The Department of Water and Meteorology has issued a bulletin today stating that the pre-monsoon 'season' has started from March 1 this year. The pre-monsoon starts from March and lasts till May.

During this time there is a possibility of thunder / lightning in the afternoon and evening as well as wind and hail. The department has requested all to take necessary precautions to avoid damage caused by thunder, wind and hail.

As the pre-monsoon lasts for three months from March, April and May, the weather in the hilly areas of the country is continuously affected in the afternoon and evening. Meteorologist said that the pre-monsoon season has started as soon as the winter season ends. "As the temperature rises, so do the effects," she said. Although the effect of pre-monsoon is seen in the hilly region, it will not affect other places. During this time, the influence of the westerly winds, when combined with the local winds, causes strong lightning.
