Talks are moving in a positive direction: Dr. Bhattarai
The first round of talks between the government and the CPN-B has ended. The two sides held talks for about an hour and a half at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday morning. It is said that today's meeting was limited to the two sides having their say. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Rajan Bhattarai said that today's talks were concluded and the talks were moving in a positive direction. No details have been released yet.
The talks were attended by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Foreign Adviser to the Prime Minister Rajan Bhattarai from the government side, while spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Vishwakarma from the Biplav group was present on the occasion.
After the government formed a dialogue committee under the convenership of the Home Minister only yesterday, Biplob had also announced a dialogue committee under the convenership of Prakand. The team arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
According to sources, Prakand and Chalaune had entered Baluwatar on Wednesday morning while Home Minister Thapa reached Baluwatar at around 9 am and the talks started at around 9.30 am. The government had banned the rebel group on 2075 Falgun 28 on the grounds that it was carrying out destructive activities.
