Distribution from old pipes where new pipelines have not been tested

The government is going to start distribution of Melamchi water as a test from April 30. According to the Melamchi Drinking Water Project, Melamchi water will be sent to the distribution system of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited from Chaitra 15.
The water of Melamchi River coming from the tunnel is discharged into the Bagmati River from Sundarijal. The tunnel will be filled by stopping the release of water in Bagmati from Friday. Project Chief Tiresh Khatri says it will take 3-4 days to fill the tunnel.
After the tunnel is filled, the water will be left as it is for 10 days and then it will be discharged in the water treatment plant at Sundarijal. Khatri said that the treated water will be sent to the distribution system while testing the water treatment plant. 80 million liters of water will be distributed daily in Kathmandu from Chaitra 15-27 and 170 million liters after Chaitra 27.
As per the schedule, the project will test by sending 170 million liters of water to the system daily from Chaitra 27 to Asar 26.
