Nepal Oil Corporation has again increased the price of petroleum products. The prices of diesel, petrol, kerosene and aviation fuel have been increased with effect from 12 noon on Monday, said Binit Mani Upadhyaya, spokesperson of the corporation. The price was also increased on Falgun 4 less than a week later.
The price of diesel, petrol and kerosene has been increased by Rs 2 per liter and aviation fuel by Rs 5 per liter, according to a statement issued by the corporation. Similarly, the external price of aviation fuel has also been increased by USD 25 per kiloliter.
After the new price hike, petrol price has been fixed at Rs 116 per liter and diesel and kerosene at Rs 99 per liter. Similarly, the price of aviation fuel has been increased to Rs 72 per liter. The price of cooking gas is still the same.
According to the corporation, the price per kiloliter for international flights has reached USD 893 after the price hike.
The corporation has stated that the price has been increased by the Indian Oil Corporation due to the increase in the price of crude oil in the international market.
After the price adjustment, the corporation has a loss of 8.42 paisa per liter on petrol, 6.56 paisa per liter on diesel and 392.82 paisa per cylinder on LP gas. Even now, the corporation has stated that the loss will be around Rs 1.32 billion on a half-monthly basis.
Even after the current price adjustment, The corporation has stated that petrol in Birgunj area cheaper by 35.93 paisa and diesel by 42.07 paisa per liter less than in Indian border Raxaul.
