Kings XI Punjab, a franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has decided to change its name next season.
From the 14th season, the new name of Kings XI Punjab will be 'Punjab
Kings'. The team has also sought permission from the BCCI and the IPL's
regulatory body.
However, no official from Punjab has given a testimony for the name change.
According to media reports, the franchise is planning to relaunch the team
before the auction starts on February 18.
The team will also go by the name of Punjab Kings. The new season of the
competition will start from the second week of April. The action will start
from February 18 (tomorrow).
Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Pretty Zinta and Karan Paul's Punjab has been a
team that has been performing poorly for the last few years. In the last 13
years, the team has been runner-up once and third once.
Last season the team was in sixth place. Last season, KL Rahul captained
the team for the first time and Anil Kumble coached the team. This time too,
two people will lead the team.
