 Baitadi.

The body of Bhagarathi Bhatt, 17, of Chadepani in Dogadakedar Gaonpalika-7 of Baitadi has been identified by her relatives. On the 17th day of her death, her relatives found her dead. The body was laid to rest at Mahakali Aryaghat in Dasharathchanda Municipality-6 today, said Bhagarathi's uncle Shivaraj Bhatta.

Bhagarathi's body was kept in the mortuary of Baitadi district till today. Bhagarathi's funeral was attended by family members, relatives, well-wishers, people's representatives and political parties. There were tears during the funeral procession. His relatives had refused to understand his body demanding to find the culprit after he was found dead in a horrible and naked condition on January 7. Police had on Wednesday made public Dinesh Bhatt of Chadepani saying that he was involved in the incident.

Bhagarathi's autopsy report states that she was killed after being raped. Until the day it was made public, Dinesh had been saying that he had only killed Bhagarathi, but in a statement made to the public prosecutor on Thursday, including Dinesh's father, Dinesh had admitted that he had raped and killed himself.

Only then did Bhagarathi's relatives agree to understand the body. Before realizing the body, the victim's family met the police officer and the concerned body at the district administration this morning and demanded that the investigation be conducted impartially.

On Wednesday, Bhagarathi's brother Shankar Bhatta filed a complaint against Dinesh for murder and rape. The district court has extended the time limit and given permission for five days investigation. Bhagarathi and Dinesh are from the same village of Chadepani. Both sisters are related. Bhagarathi was studying in class 12 and Dinesh in class 11 at Sanatan Dharma Secondary School in Dogadakedar village municipality-3.

Bhagarathi, who had returned home from school on January 7, was found in a dilapidated and naked condition in the local Lublake forest on January 7. A team led by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Uttam Raj Subedi was deployed to investigate the incident. The team included Senior Superintendent of the State Police Office Janak Raj Pandey and DSP of the Central Bureau of Investigation Panch Kumar Bankhu.

Dinesh's suspicious activities, technical side analysis, location, eyewitness and witness statements were made public. It was reported that Dinesh had raped and murdered her in the Lublake forest on the way home after teasing her at half-time of school on the day of the incident. Currently, the leadership of Senior Superintendent Pandey's team is conducting further investigation.
