Permission to detain for 5 more days
Kathmandu.
A case of cyber crime has been registered against Binay Jung Basnet, who was arrested on the charge of threatening Sapana Roka Magar.
Action has been taken against Basnet under the Electronic Commerce Act after it was found that he had kept a secret picture of his dream through the use of electronic media.
According to an investigation officer at the Kathmandu Police Campus, Teku, some secret pictures of the dream have been found on Binay Jung's mobile phone. However, an investigation is under way into how the picture came to be. For that, the police have also sent Binay's mobile to the digital forensic lab at the police headquarters, Naxal.
Kathmandu Police Chief Ashok Singh, however, declined to comment on the incident. However he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat Cybercrime. "Thursday's five-day deadline for cybercrime has been extended," he said. District Court, Kathmandu has allowed Karki to be kept in custody for five days for investigation.
Earlier, he was investigated for indecent behavior. Sapana Roka Magar, who was included in the BBC's list of the 100 most influential women of 2020, had lodged a complaint against Basnet at the Kathmandu Police Station. On the basis of the same complaint, the police had arrested him from the bus park at Gongbusht in Kathmandu on Falgun 4.
Basnet had given an interview on some YouTube channels and threatened, "I have nude pictures in my mobile phone in my dreams, let's make them public." Basnet and Sapana used to identify each other as father and daughter and used to burn helpless bodies in Kathmandu.
But after Sapana was included in the list of 100 most influential women in the world, their relationship was broken. Sapana has now registered a separate organization under its own leadership.
