The fourth Shuklaphanta Tourism Festival has started on Sunday with the objective of promoting tourism in Shuklaphanta National Park. The festival, which started with the slogan 'Capital of tourist potential, Shuklaphanta National Park', will run for a week.
At the inauguration program of the festival, Minister for Forest and Environment Prem Ale Magar said that emphasis should be laid on the growth of tourists by promoting the park. He said that the Ministry of Forests would run a program to resolve the conflict between animals and humans along with the conservation of biodiversity. He informed that the ministry would take forward the work for the construction of infrastructure including roads along with the protection of the lakes and ponds that are being filled inside the park.
Chief of Bhimdatta Municipality, Surendra Bista, said that the festival was organized with the objective of reviving the tourism business which was crippled due to the epidemic of Kovid-19. He said that Shuklaphanta National Park should be linked with the promotion of tourism and the lives of the people here.
The park is home to a large grassland with mammals, a small population of tigers, elephants, rhinos, reptiles, amphibians, fish, butterflies and 450 species of birds. The largest herd of deer can be easily spotted in the park. The park is spread over an area of 305 square kilometers. The people living near the park have their own culture, traditions and customs
