Kathmandu. Bird flu has been found again in Tarkeshwor Municipality-1 of Kathmandu. A spokesman for the Department of Animal Husbandry said chickens, hens and eggs and grains had been destroyed in and around the place where the bird flu was found. Chandra Dhakal told online news.
"The infection was confirmed on Thursday and thousands of chickens in the area were destroyed", he said.
According to spokesperson Dhakal, 2,955 laying chickens, 2,702 laying hens, 3,570 laying eggs and 1,450 kg of grains have been destroyed.
Similarly, 2,960 boiler chickens reared by a farmer, 750 kg of grains, 2,076 boiler chickens reared by Samjhana Thakuri Tiwari and 107 local chickens have been destroyed.
Two thousand two hundred chickens and 150 kg of grains reared by another farmer and one hundred local chickens and two turkeys reared by another have also been destroyed.
Bidur Sapkata, spokesperson of Tarkeshwor Municipality, told online news that bird flu has been detected in five business firms in Chhap, Sangla.
Earlier, more than 1400 ducks were killed in Tarkeshwor Municipality-1 after bird flu was confirmed.
Bird flu, which was seen only in ducks earlier, has now been confirmed in chickens as well, said a spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. Shri Ram Ghimire said.
