Bird flu has entered Birendranagar of Surkhet. Bird flu has been detected in local chickens and pigeons reared by farmers at Naulatol in Birendranagar Municipality-12.
The Central Laboratory of the Department of Animal Husbandry has confirmed bird flu in Surkhet, said Krishna Prasad Chapai, Information Officer, Directorate of Livestock Development, Karnali.
"We had sent him
to Kathmandu for testing a few days ago due to bird flu in Surkhet. About 400
chickens and pigeons have been destroyed since the bird flu was confirmed, 'said
Information Officer Chapai.
According to Chapai, manpower has been mobilized from the federal, state and local levels to control the bird flu from the area where it has been confirmed.
An expert team of
veterinarians has been deployed from the center to facilitate the control of
the disease.
Information Officer Chapai said that they will immediately ban the import of chickens from India, test them at suspicious places and distribute relief to the farmers who have destroyed the chickens.
