Kathmandu.
The government is preparing to provide ward and family recommendations to women under the age of 40 who are going on a visit visa for the first time in the Gulf countries.
The Immigration Department has formulated a procedure for a visit visa,
proposing a permit from a family with a young woman under the age of 40 who has
never been abroad and a recommendation from the local ward where she resides.
According to Teknarayan Poudel, information officer at the Immigration
Department, this rule does not apply in the case of a family member.
There is a growing trend of going to the Gulf countries on a visit visa
without any information from Nepal. Concluding that women are at risk in the
Gulf countries, the government is tightening visit visas. "We have made a
proposal to the home ministry, if approved, it will be implemented."
According to him, the ministry had earlier formed a committee to study the
issue of women stranded abroad. The committee concluded that the risk had
increased due to the tendency to enter the Gulf countries and work without the
consent of the family on a visit visa.
He informed that the department has proposed to amend the working procedure
on the basis of the suggestions of the same study report.
"We are trying to bring this provision without the consent of the
family so that the brokers do not go abroad for greed," he said. He said
that women of that age group are at risk in the Gulf countries.
Proof of dollar exchange must be accompanied
The department is now looking for evidence even in dollar exchanges.
According to the new procedure, not only will you have to carry dollars with
you when you go on a tourist visa, but you will also have to carry proof of
exchanging dollars from a bank or an official body.
Although proposed in this procedure, this provision has already been
implemented. Apart from this, there is a provision in the working procedure
that insurance of Rs 1.5 million should be made mandatory when going for a
visit visa.
