'Water ATM' for drinking water in Kathmandu Valley

 Kathmandu ,

How do you drink water in Kathmandu Valley if you are thirsty? There are no public taps or wells in the capital. It is difficult to find these structures in urban areas. It was easily found in rural areas.

In Kathmandu Valley, you have to go to a shop and buy bottled water. Otherwise you have to keep quiet. Earlier, citizens could not easily drink water in the capital. Water purchased in shops is also very expensive in terms of price.

The government has developed an automatic drinking water system in the Kathmandu metropolis in the first phase keeping in mind the situation of not getting water even when thirsty. The government has named it Water ATM.

As soon as we say ATM, the image of a cash withdrawal machine comes to our minds. Because that is what Nepalis have seen and used. The government has developed a system to provide easy service to the citizens by setting up water ATMs in Kathmandu for easy drinking water. This will provide relief to the citizens in general. You will have to pay a certain amount of money to drink water from a water ATM.

The Ministry of Drinking Water, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Management Board have brought water ATMs into operation in Kathmandu from today.

Minister for Water Supply Manichandra Thapa inaugurated the Water ATM on Thursday. As per the government's plan, water ATMs have been set up at Ratna Park, Balaju and Swayambhu Bhagwan Pau in the first phase.

The government says that clean and quality drinking water will be available in the area as soon as water ATMs are connected. Consumers will have to pay Rs 2 for 200 millimeters of water available from water ATMs. Similarly, for one liter, you have to pay Rs. 5.

The water ATM will be operated by the supplier for the next three months. It will be handed over to the board after three months. The ATM will provide hot water during winter and cold water during summer. Necessary system has also been connected for that.

An arrangement has been made for consumers to use one rupee coin to get water from Water ATM. According to Sanjeev Bikram Rana, Executive Director of Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Board, such ATMs will be connected at 15 different places in the capital Kathmandu within the next three years. According to Rana, information on how to withdraw water from ATMs has been kept in understandable language.

In view of the dire problem of drinking water in Kathmandu and the fact that it is difficult to get it in public places, the water ATMs have created an environment for the general public to drink clean water easily.

According to the details, water ATMs will be set up in Kalanki, Malpot, Baneshwor, Bangalamukhi Temple, Kasunti Transport Office and Shankha Park Dhumrabarahi within the next one year. Similarly, the Ministry of Water Supply has said that similar structures will be installed in different places of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

Minister Thapa said that the water ATM has been brought into operation with the aim of providing safe drinking water to the people. According to the ministry, the cost of water ATM is Rs. 20 million. The general public should be aware of the security and ease of operation of water ATMs.
