New fee for tourists going to Lumbini from Baishakh, how much do locals and foreigners have to pay?

Kathmandu. A new fee has been fixed for domestic and foreign tourists visiting Lumbini, a special historical pilgrimage site for Buddhists and the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.

"Residents of Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and Nawalparasi Susta West have been provided free admission," the fund said

 

The Lumbini Development Fund has issued a notice today and fixed the new fee with effect from April 20. The fund has fixed new protection and service charges, camera charges, video camera charges and filming fees for internal and external tourists.

The fund has clarified that protection and service charges will not be levied on monks, nuns, senior citizens (above 70 years) and locals and foreigners below 10 years of age.

Now, Nepali citizens have to pay Rs 50 for protection and service, Rs 100 for camera, Rs 1,000 for video camera and Rs 10,000 for filming when visiting Lumbini. For Nepali students, the fund has provided 50 percent discount on protection and service fees.

Residents of Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and Nawalparasi Susta West have been provided free admission, the fund said. For this, they will have to show their identity card.

Similarly, Rs 100 has been fixed for protection and service fee, Rs 100 for camera, Rs 1,000 for video camera and $ 700 for filming for tourists coming from neighboring India. The fund has also provided 50 percent discount on protection and service fees for Indian students.

Tourists from other SAARC countries will have to pay Rs 300 for protection and service, $ 3 for camera, $ 25 for video camera and $ 700 for filming.

Similarly, tourists from third countries have to pay Rs 600 for protection and service fee, $ 3 for camera, $ 25 for video camera and $ 700 for filming.
