' "It has been found that all the trees have been cut down and destroyed in the hope that the locals will get the parts of the land now, just like greed for profit."

Assistant Forest Officer Sah said that one bigha area of Guhya Danda under the National Forest has been destroyed by cutting down 248-year-old medium and small trees.

The valuable Sal trees of Guhya Danda have been cut down in just two days by 13 people from Katakuniya village who have land directly under it. "All those sal trees were cut down in two days and a dozer was used to open the road across the hill overnight," a local told us.
