The vaccine against COVID-19, produced by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Corporation, has been approved for emergency use in Nepal.
The Department of Drug Administration has informed that the vaccine called 'Verosel' has been allowed for emergency use in Nepal.
A notice issued by the department states that the vaccine was approved on January 16, 2021. However, the department has signed a notice on February 17, 2021 stating that the vaccine has been allowed for emergency use.
China has announced to provide 500,000 doses of vaccine to Nepal. After the permission, the way has been opened to bring Chinese vaccine to Nepal and use it.
At present, 1 million doses of Covisild vaccine provided by India is being used in Nepal.
