Kathmandu.

Six months after the government started the process, the fertilizer purchased from Bangladesh has finally arrived in Nepal. The first batch of urea fertilizer purchased from Bangladesh at GTG has arrived in Calcutta and the fertilizer will reach Nepal within a week, said Krishi Samagri Company Limited. The company claims that 22,500 metric tons of manure will enter Nepal by next week.

Bishnu Pokhrel, information officer of Krishi Samagri Company Limited, said that the first consignment of fertilizer has arrived in Calcutta and unloading of the fertilizer will start from Saturday. "The first consignment has arrived in Calcutta. Unloading will start from tomorrow to bring it to Nepal," said Information Officer Pokhrel.

Manure will reach three ports of Nepal by rail from Calcutta. The company has stated that the fertilizer will reach the warehouses in Bhairahawa, Biratnagar and Birgunj.

The government had started the process of purchasing 50,000 metric tonnes of urea fertilizer from Bangladesh last August. The formal process of purchasing manure was started after the talks between the Prime Ministers of the two countries on Bhadra 16.
