CPN-Prachanda-Madhav group has protested against the arrest of central member Ram Kumari Jhankri.
Police had arrested Jhankri from his residence in Shangkhamul on Thursday
morning on the charge of committing a crime against the state over her remarks
about the President.
The Prachanda - Madhav group, on the other hand, said that seeing political criticism as a crime against the state was a serious delusion, prejudice and arbitrariness. Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha Prakash said in a statement on Thursday that the arrests, which were made in mockery of the freedom of expression, guaranteed by the constitution, had exposed the deeply undemocratic, authoritarian and totalitarian character of the current government.
Stating that no person or organization involved in politics in a democracy
can be above criticism, Shrestha has strongly condemned the arrest of Ram
Kumari. They have also demanded the unconditional and immediate release of
Jhankri.
