Rajan Rokaya of Nepal Army has
won the title of Pokhara International Marathon. Sena's Rokaya has won the
title of the 15th edition of 'Safal Pokhara International Marathon' organized
by the Ex-Players' Forum Nepal in Pokhara on Saturday.
He won the title by crossing the prescribed distance of 42.195 km in 2 hours 28 minutes and 56 seconds. The winner Rokaya received a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs 200,000 in cash. Govinda Prasad Bhattarai of Nepal Army finished the race in 2 hours 33 minutes and 48 seconds. Army runner Devraj Basnet came third. He completed the race in 2 hours 42 minutes and 33 seconds. Army runners dominated the first, second and third place.
In fourth place was Pratap Tamsohang of
Panchthar. He completed the race in 2 hours 54 minutes and 8 seconds and
received a consolation prize. In the marathon, 209 runners from different
district and departmental clubs competed.
Similarly, Rajpura Prasai of Nepal
Police has won the title of Women's Half Marathon. She completed the 21 km
distance in 1 hour 27 minutes and 8 seconds and won the title.
Ram Maya Budha of Jumla came second. She
completed it in 1 hour 30 minutes and 10 seconds. In third place was Brinda
Shrestha of the Armed Police Force. She completed it in 1 hour 31 minutes and
14 seconds.
In the women's half marathon, the winner
Prasai got Rs 1 lakh. Jumlaki Budha received the second prize of Rs 75,000.
Shrestha of the Armed Police Force handed over Rs 50,000 as a prize.
In previous editions, marathons and
other events were held on the same day, but this year, other events were held
on different dates, taking into account the potential risk of corona virus
infection, the forum said.
The wheelchair race for women and men
and the blind race will be held on March 6. According to the organizers, the 10
km women's / men's race will be held on April 29 and the 5 km men's / women's
race on April 19.
