Sitting of the 'full court' meeting of the Supreme Court


A full meeting of the Supreme Court is being held today (Friday) to discuss issues including expansion of service which was compressed by Corona. 20 judges will participate in the discussion. Assistant Spokesperson of the Supreme Court Devendra Dhakal said that the main agenda was to manage the service flow which was compressed by Corona.


The Supreme Court is currently hearing writ petitions of public concern due to Covid, and petitions for detention. Spokesperson Dhakal said that a full meeting will be held to discuss the court's management of service delivery as the lockdown is extended.


It is understood that the issue of amending the rules related to the constitution of the Constitutional Court will be included in the meeting of the full court. On Wednesday, an agreement was reached between Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara and officials of the Supreme Court Bar Association on amending the rules of procedure of the Constitutional Court.


After a dispute over the formation of the Constitutional Court, it was recently agreed to amend the rules to have a senior judge. As per the agreement, the process of amending the rules will proceed from the full court.
